The GameDay Recycling Challenge is a nationwide competition among universities to reduce and recycle the waste generated at home football games. For the past two years, the University of Arkansas has placed 1st in the SEC and 8th in the nation. This year we hope to be the first SEC team to achieve zero waste on game days, and we can't do it without your help!
What do volunteers do?
Volunteers will work on recycling efforts by collecting and sorting recyclables from the Razorback tailgating fans, all the while talking to the fans and educating them about the University of Arkansas' goal to be a zero waste university by 2021. Remember to wear tennis shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
Will there be food?
Boston Mountain Solid Waste District will provide food, followed by fun and free t-shirts for volunteers.
Where do I need to be on Gameday?
For all home football games, volunteers will meet the interns from the Office for Sustainability at the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District tent outside of Bud Walton arena. Bud Walton Arena is just south of the stadium near the intersection of Leroy Pond and Razorback Rd. There will be a large trailer printed with the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District logo and a red hog pen (cage trailer).
Isn't traffic crazy on game days? Where do I park?
You can park at Baum Stadium and either walk or take a bus up to campus. The lot is first come, first serve so make sure to arrive early if you are planning to park on campus. Many volunteers choose to have friends or family drop them off, or they carpool with other volunteers. If you have any further questions or run into issues finding us on game day, give us a call at 713-264-2988 and we will help you find our location.
Send us a message here on givepulse or text your questions to 713-264-2988.
