Teen Court Judge or Mentor (Ongoing Opportunity)
This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of local youth and to better understand the juvenile justice system. Law students serve as judge or mentor for hearings in a Teen Court diversion program. Juvenile offenders participate in this diversion program and appear before the Teen Court where all participants (defense and prosecuting attorney, bailiff, jurors) are teen volunteers. Law students will receive all training and materials required to serve as either the judge or mentor.
Date and time: Periodic Mondays 5:30-8:00pm (commitment of just once per semester required, dates are flexible)
Location: Juvenile Court (in South Fayetteville)
Eligibility: All students are eligible. No experience needed. All required training will be provided. Rule XV certification not required.
