This was my first time being a buddy and I absolutely loved it! Incredible experience!

Today at the Jones Center, I wrapped up the last hours of my Service Learning experience. There is an upcoming Kentucky Derby themed fundraiser, so I helped compose a list of 50 Kentucky Derby trivia questions to be used at the event. After completing that task, I wrote a summary of my experience to provide feedback to the Jones Center of what I enjoyed and what they could improve for future students. Before I left, I walked around the Jones Center and took some pictures to use for my presentation. I am glad I picked the Jones Center as the place I would do my Service Learning, it was a great experience and I enjoyed learning about the services and opportunities the center provides NWA!

During my time at The Jones Center this week, I helped research ideas for an upcoming event at the center. We were tasked with trying to create Taylor Swift themed concession stand items that are packaged for the upcoming event. We also researched fun and unique games that the kids could play on the ice rink. This week, we also received feedback that the kids really enjoyed the art activities that we helped prepare, which was very rewarding to hear!

This week at The Jones Center I helped prepare an art activity for the kids to do. We cut yellow plates, streamers, and triangles so that the kids could make their own sun. It was a lot harder than I initially thought it would be, you can only cut so many triangles before your hands start to cramp. Besides the hand cramps, this was a fun and rewarding task because I know the kids are going to have so much fun with it!
